Message From The Family
Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
Special thanks to COL. Rankin & Joy, MSG Vertis Richardson & Anita, DOL team, and all the medical staff engaged in his care.
Please enhance this tribute to Jerry by adding your memories & photos.
Jerry was born in Villa Rica, GA to James Clifford Chism and Margaret Gates (Henry (Dude) Evans (Stepfather))who have preceded him in death.
He is the son-in-law of Lucy McDonald who currently lives in Tampa FL.
Jerry leaves behind a wife of 40 years, Angelia, and they raised and affected the lives of five children Terence, Danrick, Stacy, Candace and Stephanie.
He was one of eleven children and the brother of Juanita Brown (John Brown), Ruthie Merrill (Buford Merrill), Marie Chivers (Fernando Chivers), Sandra Evans, Janice Lemon (Alex Lemon), Henry Evans (Audrey Evans), Lois Evans, Stanley Evans (Tracy Evans), Barry Evans (Christy Evans) and Darion Evans (Mary Evans).
He is the nephew of Jimmie Lou Dobbs, Mildred Moore and Beulah Mae Hindesman (Gradie Hindesman) who live in GA.
Jerry retired after 30 years of service in the US Army and 15 years of civilian service. He loved his country, his family & friends (of which there are many) and will be sorely missed by each and every one.
We ask that you remember his logic, practicality, wit, humor, charm and first and foremost his dedication to the Lord our God, JESUS, who has granted him rest.
Jerry will be laid to rest in the Bay Pines National Cemetery located at 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., in Saint Petersburg, FL 33708 with full honors.

Condolence & Memory Journal
Jerry, when I start to miss you, I try to imagine the absolute joy and peace that you are receiving in the care of our Lord. We tell Logan about you daily and he is so smart and has taken over the job of making us laugh. I can only pray that the world gets better for him. Candace is the best mother. I am so thankful for the time that we shared and thanking God that you were a promise keeper.
Love You Always,
Angie

Dear Angie and family,
We were so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing; however, the good news for all Christians is that although Jerry is absent from the body, he is now present with our Heavenly Father, receiving his eternal rest. We pray that as days pass on and whenever you feel that gentle breeze, you will know it is Jerry's spirit sent to comfort you. We hope your memories of him will give you comfort in the days ahead. We are praying with you.
Sending love,
