Alice V. Sowder, 82, of Clermont, FL peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on June 13, 2018 at Mike Conley Hospice House. Alice was born in Pahokee, FL on September 28, 1935 to William and Virginia (McQuagge) Barton. After graduating high school as Valedictorian of her class, she enlisted with the United States Air Force, during which time she met her husband, Thomas E. Sowder. She and Thomas wed on March 25, 1955 and shared 63 blessed years together. After serving her country, she worked 31 years for First City Bank in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and ultimately retired as their Senior Vice President in 2001. Alice was preceded in death by both parents, sisters (Myrtice and Gladys), and brothers (Arthur, Robert, and Earlie). Alice leaves behind her loving husband Thomas, daughter Karen Carter (Joseph Armstrong, Jr.), granddaughter Amber (Jesse) Frauenhofer, and brother Charles (April) Barton, along with other extended family and friends. Alice will always be remembered for her generosity, resilience, love for the Lord, and the unconditional love she provided as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sibling. She will be dearly missed by all.
