Betty Joan Harris, 78, left the world peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe and son Timothy, and survived by her daughter Debbie and three grandchildren: Lisa, Nicholas, and Benjamin, as well as three beloved great-grandchildren: Della, Nora, and Hannah.

Born Betty Joan Good on March 8, 1940 in Chicago's West Lakeview neighborhood, she lived a comfortable yet humble life. Betty's father, Mr. Omer Good, worked as a sign and truck painter for the Wholesale Ice Cream Company and later a security guard, making an honest living to support his family of five: his wife Gertrude, and their children Roberta, David, and of course the youngest, Betty.

Betty Good grew up, married, and became Betty Harris. Her husband, Joe, was a dashing and handsome man, clean out of the military. After being introduced through her brother, Dave, Betty knew she had found the love of her life. Joe's charismatic personality not only stole her heart, but would also become a crucial component to their success as business partners.

As a stay-at-home mother and housewife, Betty raised two beautiful children, Debbie and Timothy. Her faith was tested in 1982 as Timothy, the youngest, passed away from a rare illness. After Timothy's death, Betty grew even stronger in her faith, something that she would later expand upon greatly.

Together for 56 years, Betty and Joe loved to travel and enjoy what they earned together in business and other ventures throughout a storied sales career. Both the kindest of hearts throughout their sixties and seventies, they loved to recall stories of a bygone era, and rejoice in the the Lord's goodness.

Throughout her spiritual tenure at Calvary Chapel-Hernando, Betty was so much more than a member and weekly greeter, she was quintessential to the life that made her church a true community of fellowship and worship.

Friendship and meaningful connections defined her later years, especially after the passing of her Love, Joe. Her friends called her the kindest and gentlest of souls, and her grandchildren recall her as a faith-forward person who meant business when it came to the power of prayer. Betty was a true follower of Jesus Christ and studied closely the Word of God.

Betty is already missed by the ones she held so close, and will be remembered dearly.
