Carolyn Marie Monaghan, 76, of Clermont, Florida, passed on September 2, 2018. A 'firecracker baby,' Carolyn was born on July 5, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Walter and Maryanna Jasinski. While a Maryland girl at heart, Carolyn brought her own sunshine to Florida since moving with her husband in 2013.

A loving daughter, wife, mother, 'Mommom' and dear friend, Carolyn is survived by her husband, Dennis, and two children and their spouses: Karen Norcross and husband, David; Dennis Monaghan and wife, Beata; as well as her loving (and spoiled) grandchildren, Briana and husband Nicholas, Kathleen, Katherine and Liam; and with her great-grandson, Adam.

Since her childhood, Carolyn's love and passions have revolved around her family. Raised to treasure and nurture family traditions, Carolyn's life was spent strengthening these bonds as the branches of her family tree have grown and flourished. Those close to her know she was Polish through-and-through, and loved reviving Polish cultural traditions such as Wigilia (a Christmas Eve vigil dinner) and Święconką (a blessing of Easter Baskets). She also enjoyed adopting the cultural traditions of other nations, with a special focus on Irish and Greek customs … and foods!

Carolyn had an enthusiastic curiosity and empathy for others which was evident with every new face she met. While some people collect tchotchkes and keepsakes, Carolyn collected friends everywhere she went, opening her arms to new members of her extended family from all backgrounds and interests. She was selfless in her passion for helping others and lending an ear to those in need, and her love for storytelling made her the first to share the excitement of family news.

The summer before her passing, Carolyn's family was blessed with the gift of precious weeks together, celebrating life during quality time filled with laughter and conversation around the dinner table. Her journey to heaven was paved with spiritual preparation, having attended Mass just before her passing. She had also recently consecrated herself to Christ through the Blessed Mother.

Carolyn will be truly missed, for all the light and joy she brought to the world around her. We will think of her with love whenever we smell gardenias, each time we share steamed blue crabs or sauerkraut and sausage, and during every family milestone, which we know she will be watching from Heaven.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 7 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Celebration, Florida from 10-11:30 a.m. with a Mass following at noon. She will be buried directly after mass, at Winter Garden Cemetery in Winter Garden, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends consider making a donation to Corpus Christi Catholic Church (1050 Celebration Ave, Celebration, FL 34747), where Carolyn celebrated her strong Catholic faith at Mass weekly.
