Donna Jean (Black) Brooks, 55 a life-long resident of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully on August 4, 2018. She is the daughter of Robert and Alice (Verner) Black. Donna is a 1981 Hernando High School Graduate. She is Methodist by faith and attended Spring Lake Methodist Church where she and her husband also exchanged wedding vows on March 24, 1984. Donna was inducted into the Florida Dixie Softball Hall of Fame in 2018. She worked for Southwest Florida Water Management District for 22 years and Retired from the Hernando County School Board in 2018. She loved shopping for family, friends, her business, and herself. Donna had a love for organizing special events and fundraisers for anyone in need. For many who knew Donna; she was known for her "Donnaisms": "It's all good, if it ain't it will be", and "Put your big girl panties on and deal with it"
She is predeceased by her father, Robert Black; children, Baby Boy Brooks, and Baby Girl Brooks.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Danny Ray Brooks of Brooksville; daughter, Morgan Lee Brooks of Brooksville; granddaughter, McKenzie Woodside; grandson, Easton Woodside both of Brooksville; mother, Alice (Verner) Black of Brooksville; sister, Mitzie (Black) Simmons and her husband, Jesse of Atlanta; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Faye Brooks of Brooksville; sister-in-law, Deanna (Brooks) Naugler and her husband, Robert of Brooksville; sister-in-law, Kim Brooks; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Donna's request is for donations to be made to HPH Hospice, or Dixie Softball Inc. Scholarship Fund.
