Mr. Edward Rosario Scafidi, a loving husband, father and brother went to be with our Lord on July 26th 2017 after a hard fought battle with Mesothelioma. Born March 6, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eddie moved to Homestead Florida in 1950, where as a youngster he would climb quickly to the top of a tall Australian pine tree and as it started to bend over, throw his legs out and ride it to the ground. Eddie graduated from South Dade High School in 1959 and eventually came to the Tampa Bay area in 1972.

In 1974, Eddie began work as a salesman for Alcan Building Products, a Division of Alcan Aluminum Corporation and just like that Australian pine tree from his childhood, he climbed and climbed to the top and became Division President. Eddie was a Mason, 32nd degree Scottish Rite and a member of the Egypt Temple Shrine. An avid fisherman from his early days in the Florida Keys, Eddie had a lifelong yearning to be on the water and regardless of how much catching he was doing, just being on the water alone or with family and friends, was a place that gave him so much joy.

A food fanatic, like his father before him, Eddie was right at home in the kitchen either cooking his famous spicy shrimp linguine or prompting his loving wife Geri to "add more garlic". He filled his home with family, laughter and BBQ's, but most importantly love. He was gentle and kind to all, especially to his grandchildren and his spontaneous humor and loving soul made an indelible mark on anyone who was fortunate to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosario Scafidi and Edna Lamkin Scafidi. He is survived by his beloved wife Geri Schafstall Scafidi; brother John Scafidi; sisters Carolyn Scafidi, Jean Buonato (husband Bill) and Linda Pisano (husband Angelo; daughter Kim Scafidi; sons Craig Scafidi (wife Courtney) and Chip Whitworth (wife Shelly); grandchildren Mckenzie Sullivan, Alaina Scafidi, Kaia Scafidi, Cameron Aubuchon and Max Aubuchon; and brother and sister in-laws Jack Schafstall (wife Genie), Chuck Schafstall (wife Janice), Cecilia (husband John) and Trink Keener (husband Larry).

A visitation will be conducted in Eddie's honor on Monday July 31st, 2017 from 4-6pm with a memorial service at 6pm with Pastor Jeff Robinson of Plant City Church of God officiating at Brewer and Son's Funeral Home, 3328 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33629.
