Fortier, Frederick R.T. 80, Tampa, passed away peacefully on December 21st, 2016. Fred was born January 19, 1936 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Frederick and Angele Fortier. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years Edda (2007) and sister June (2013). Loving father to Steven Fortier (Bonnie), Anna Brown, Robert Fortier, Theresa Fernandez (Mark) and Kristin Gomez (Jorge); Papaw to Danielle & Rious Fortier, Courtney & Christopher Brown, Logan & Lauren Fernandez and Levi & Mattias Gomez; all of Tampa. Survivors also include sister Marie (Elwood), sister-in-law Sigrun Sigurdardottir of Iceland and several nieces and nephews. Fred served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years. During his service he traveled and raised his family in several different states and countries before retirement from his final duty station MacDill AFB. Upon retirement Tampa became his home where he resided for the last 41 years. There will be no services at this time but a celebration of life will be done at a later date.
