Helen Sloniger Moen, 91, of Brooksville, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her home of 67 years. Helen was born on August 13, 1926 at home in Goldenrod to Bergy "Roy" and Cora "Dale" Sloniger. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Johan Moen, brothers, Roscoe, William and George "Ray" Sloniger, son, David Moen, grandson, Michael Sleeper, and great grandson, Isaac Wetheringtion. Helen is survived by her sons, Donnie (Dianne), Eddie (Denise) and Jon (Dianne) Moen; daughters, Donna Furnish, Jan (David) Sleeper, and Lisa (Joe) Messina, daughter in law, Debbie Moen, 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She was an official scorekeeper for the Washington Senators (Minnesota Twins) and a baseball scorekeeper for Hernando High School. She retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture where she was a secretary for over 20 years. She was a 73 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and gardener. Helen never knew a stranger and was loved by all! She will be sorely missed! Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 from 10 am to 11:30 am at 1190 S. Board Street, Brooksville. Funeral Service will be begin at 11:30am with burial to follow at 2 pm at Florida National. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
