John Thomas Montgomery, 85, passed away on February 7, 2017. John was born May 3,1931 in Marietta, GA. He was a graduate of Sarasota High School; attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC; spent 4 yrs in the United States Navy in Pensacola and St. Thomas; and was a graduate of The University of Florida where he became a life long Gator Fan. He worked for 31 yrs. at Honeywell, from 1965-1994; coached little league baseball from 1979-1980; and volunteered at Tampa General Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and pet lover.
John is preceded in death by his son, Jasen. He is also survived by his beloved wife, Marcia Welch Montgomery of 56 yrs.; son, Matt and his wife, Kristy Montgomery of Tampa FL.; daughters, Mimi Fordham of Alpharetta, GA. and Sandy O'Connor of Miami FL.; Brothers, Dale Montgomery of Sarasota FL and Lucky; 5 grandchildren, John, Ashley, Tim, Casey, and Sean O.;10 great-grandchildren, Kylee, Sean G., Brody, Hazel, TJ, Kelly, Caroline, Catherine, Charlotte, and Katie.
John enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed very much.
In John's memory, the family request donations be made to your local Humane Society.
