Joseph Leonard Reed, 69, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on April 30, 2017. He was born to proud parents, Bennie Lee & Samuel Langston Reed on December 28, 1947 in Tallahassee, FL.
He was the second of four boys and spent the greater portion of his life there before moving to St. Petersburg in 1992.
Joseph was a published Poet & Songwriter, Sold Local Newspapers for 10 plus years, operated a Mail Order Merchandising Business, ... and was active in several social Organizations.
His Greatest Gift was his Love of Humanity, ...especially Children with Special Needs.
Joseph leaves intact, the Love of Brothers Samuel L. Reed, Jr., Wilmoth D. Reed, and Larry James Reed (who preceded him in life), Sister-in-Law Alice Reed, Deborah Reed, Deborah Stigall, ..Three Nephews, Two Nieces, and a beautiful extended Family of Grand & Great-Grand Nieces & Nephews... and numerous Loving Friends.
The TB Bucs have lost an avid fan, ... as have we!

Thank You Soo Much (From Wilmoth D. Reed)!

Thank You Soo Much,… I can hear Him Say

As Someone took time,.. then turned to walk Away.

Joseph would acknowledge those who helped him to achieve,

Tasks and feats that he could only conceive.

His body too often denied, the Greater Thoughts derived.

His Spirit, his drive,…His determination,…Now Forever Denied!

Yet,…My Life,..Our Lives,..are forever & undeniably changed, Enhanced ,..Better.

There is a richness of Spirit that touched Me personally,..Joseph was an inspiration!

He taught, sometimes without Words,..But seldom with Negation.

For Joseph Leonard taught Me to be Color Blind, to Engage and to Trust.

Even when denied the same, ..forced to Acknowledge that His Legs would Never Give Enough.

He relished the Game of Football,..and any game nearly as tough.

By God's Grace, His crisp Mind & Steadied Trained Hand,…created and Wrote Poetry & Prose,

Songs of Experience,…Ballads of Hometown Backroads…Secrets Wishes & Thoughts Soo Bold.

Always,..He Smiled, when Greeted,..People were drawn to Him,..As if They Needed to Know…

Some other side of This Life Experience that Soo Many are Blessed to Take as "Status Quo."

They Reached out, they Huggled & rallied to the Soul who introduced Himself simply as "Joe!"

Joseph Leonard Loved, a Woman's Touch,..A Kindred Heart,.. and a Mellow Soulful Tune.

But, his Favorite moments were always those spent with You.

He was Blessed with Three Brothers…And Lived his Greater Life..With Two….

Too soon Joseph,...Denial of conversations unspoken…Much too soon?!!

Personally,..I have seen & felt his Anger,..I have yielded to his Direction,..I have echoed his Wisdom &

Words….. I have felt His Pain & Longings, as he generously Shared, just as Bennie & Lillian had taught..

But, in these most recent days, as he grew to look more & more like Father Sam,..Did I marvel in the

quiet Blessing that God has wrought,….I Love You Joseph Leonard Reed… But,..You Know That!

Enjoy the Blessing of Body and Spirit Freedoms,..that for 69 Lifetimes, You Sought!
