Louise Santa Cali Briganti, 79, of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 after a long illness. A devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Louise embraced life and lived fully.

Born February 23, 1939, Louise grew up in Brooklyn, New York. A graduate of Lincoln High School in 1956, Louise met her husband Anthony (Tony) Briganti soon thereafter. They married in 1959 and settled in Queens where they started their family. In 1967, Louise and Tony relocated to "the country," Ridgefield, Connecticut, where they raised their four children. They later moved to Florida and eventually settled in Brooksville.

Louise had an admirable sense of adventure and fun. She enjoyed watching ice hockey, especially her beloved New York Rangers. Louise was an avid reader who also loved crossword puzzles, playing cards and going to the theatre. She and Tony spent their retirement years playing golf, bowling and traveling the world with friends visiting Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China and cruising the Caribbean.

Friends of the Brigantis will recall that walking into Louise's kitchen was like walking into a hug. Proud of her Italian heritage, she introduced adults and children alike to her gravy and made no apologies for adding garlic to just about everything. Her antipasto trays and cream puffs were second to none. It's no wonder her son became a chef.

Louise's engaging smile, hearty laugh, generous hugs, warm heart and witty humor will be missed by those who loved her. She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Tony, of Brooksville; daughter Lisa Briganti and her husband, Chris Caldwell, of Easley, SC; daughter Michele Briganti of Farmington, CT; son Stephen Briganti and his wife Sherry of New Fairfield, CT; and son-in-law, Conrad Choiniere, of Ellicott City, MD. She is also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Louise also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Margaret Fennessey, and her husband, Tom. She is predeceased by her brother, Joe, who passed away in January 2017, and her daughter, Denise, who passed away last September.

A mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, May 19 at 10am at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Spring Hill, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) for memorial contributions.
