Major Albert D. Farnum, US Army Retired, age 85, of Spring Hill, (Pasco County) Florida, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Albert was born in New Port Richey, FL. to the late George & Dorothy (Rogers) Farnum, on December 13, 1932. Albert graduated from Tampa's Plant High School in 1950 and then joined the US Army National Guard Reserves. While at the FBI in Miami, he started college at U of Miami. Albert then joined the US Army, became a Green Beret, and continued his military career for 23 years, with several MOS to his credit, including an instructor of recruits at Ft. Bragg, NC. Following his extensive service, Albert taught ROTC at the high school in Naples, FL. Albert was a founding member of the Special Forces Association in Florida and held memberships in both state and national chapters, as well as a member of several in VFW Posts, American Legions, and Aripeka Elks Lodge. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; and by his daughter, Beth Farnum Marstellar. Albert is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. (Tannuzzo) Farnum, of Spring Hill, FL. son, Albert Douglas Farnum, Jr. of NC, step-children, Charlotte (Rick) Nelson and daughter, Rikki Lynn, of Stedman, NC, David Watson and family, of Fayetteville, NC; brother, Donald Farnum, of Spring Hill, FL, and several extended family members. Albert's family and friends will gather at the Brewer and Sons Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel, on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 10-11:30 AM, with a service to begin at 11:30 AM. Military Honors and Committal prayers will be bestowed at 1:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery, 6504 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Fl 33513. Albert will be laid to rest following the service, at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the animal charity of one's choosing.
