Matthew Brittain December 27th, 1960 – July 14th, 2018

It is with great sadness that I announce the unexpected passing of our brother, Matthew Brittain, on July 14th, 2018. Matthew, the son of Arthur Herbert and Vincenza Brittain, was born on December 27th, 1960 in Middletown, New Jersey.

Matthew is preceded in death by both of his parents and his sister, Mary Brittain Van Vliet. He is survived by his siblings: Arthur Brittain (Jennie), Patricia Brittain, Carol Brittain (Jeannene), Irene Grisso (Tim), John Brittain and Drew Brittain (Miriam), his close friend, Tracey Tellis, and her daughter, Brandi Griffin, who were a huge part of Matthew's life. He left behind twelve nieces and nephews, Jamie, Andrew, Christopher, Michael, Laura, Michelle, Erica, Brian, Drew, Jeremy, Vincent & Isabella, who all described him as their "favorite uncle".

Matthew most recently resided in Valrico, Florida with his sister Carol. Matthew was born and spent his preteen and teenage years in Middletown, New Jersey. After graduating high school, he attended college in Pennsylvania and NJ, and eventually moved to Florida; living in New Smyrna Beach and Valrico. He spent most of his working career in the family business and was a certified locksmith. He loved buying and selling collectibles.

Matthew was the primary caregiver for our father until his passing. Matthew will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous son, brother and friend. A true profile in courage; an inspiration to all. Diagnosed with a very rare disease as an infant, he was not expected to survive his preteens. He fought, survived his illness and the severe complications from his treatment; and lived with courage and dignity and, most of all, appreciated life.

He will be in our hearts forever and always.
