Melvin Don'l Burkhalter of Groveland passed away June 16, 2013 at Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont. Born in Orlando, he owned and operated a paint and body shop in Orlando and later in Groveland. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Melvin loved racing his #31 race car throughout the Southeast, and holds the track record at New Smyrna Speedway to this day.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Loretta, of Groveland; five children, Donetta Roberts of Groveland, Don'l, Jr. of Groveland, Willie II of Apopka, Chuck of Groveland and Cindy Lou McDaniels of Groveland; brothers Billy of Apopka, Robert of Zellwood and Ralph of Clermont; sister Mary Lou Huber of Orlando; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
