Michael Herbert Ranney, 59, of Clermont, FL, passed away suddenly on September 25, 2017 at South Lake Hospital in Clermont. He was born April 23, 1958 in Lincoln, ME. Michael is predeceased by his father, John Ranney, and his nephew, Matthew Butler. Surviving are his loving wife of 33 years, Elissa Ranney; two sons, Jamison Ranney and Alexander Ranney; his daughter, Rachel Poulsen; his mother, Jeannette Ranney; two sisters, Susan (William) Brown and Pamela (William Colella) Ranney and many other extended family and friends.

Born and raised in Maine, Michael attended Windham, Maine High School, the New Hampshire Technical Institute, and UMass-Lowell. He began his career at Bell Laboratories, eventually working as a senior design engineer. He settled in Sandown, NH and was very active in the community, coaching youth soccer and serving for over twenty years as a volunteer fireman.

Michael loved the outdoors, especially fishing, boating, skiing and golfing. He was skilled in home construction and repair, taking on many projects to create a beautiful home for his family. He took great pride in his work, whether it was tiling a bathroom floor or grilling the perfect steak. His easygoing personality, kindness, and generosity with his time and talents made him a wonderful son, husband, father, the BEST big brother ever, and a friend to everyone.

Michael recently accepted a position at Lockheed Martin in Florida where his mother and siblings live. He and his wife settled in Clermont, purchased a house, and lovingly created a home.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating Michael's life on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) located at 50 Adams Pond Road in Derry, NH, followed by a luncheon at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandown Fireman's Association, P. O. Box 1756, Sandown, NH 03873.
