Michael John Shilosky, 85, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of West Hartford, Connecticut, passed away after a brief fight with cancer, at Evergreen Woods Health and Rehab Facility, in Spring Hill, Florida, on Monday, May 29, 2017.

Mike was born on December 17, 1931, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the son of Michael and Oleta (Hess) Shilosky. He served his country as a marine, on the front lines, during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps., he worked for Ward Interiors, in Hartford, Connecticut, and then owned an upholstery shop, The Custom Shop, on Oakwood Avenue, in West Hartford, Connecticut, for many years. During the 1970s, he ran the upholstery shop at Somers prison. Later, he returned to work at Ward Interiors and finally, reopened an upholstery shop, Mike's Upholstery, in Hartford, Connecticut, before retirement.

During the last several years, he was a snowbird, maintaining homes in Spring Hill, Florida and in Connecticut. He was most proud of his military service, his beloved home in Spring Hill, Florida and many prominent upholstery projects, including furniture for the Blair House, in Washington, DC.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Marcelynas (husband Arthur), of Waterbury, brothers Allen Shilosky (wife Lila), of East Hartford, and Arthur Shilosky (wife Julie), of Colchester, Connecticut. He is also survived by grandchildren, James Devine, of Pflugerville, Janet Zurfluh (husband Richard), of Victoria, Texas, as well as Therese Marcelynas of Waterbury, Connecticut. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of over 35 years, Dorothy (Cwikla), daughter Bernice Devine, brother Richard Shilosky and companion Yvette Pepin.
